OVERVIEW
This massive production was one of the first major Hollywood blockbusters to fully utilize the Moroccan desert for large-scale warfare sequences. It required coordinating hundreds of extras and a massive technical crew in Ouarzazate (Ait Ben Haddou).
CHALLENGES & APPROACH
The Financial Logistics of a Blockbuster.
Managing the cash flow and payroll for a production of this magnitude in the early 2000s presented a unique logistical challenge. The goal was to ensure seamless financial operations for hundreds of local crew members and vendors in a remote location. My approach focused on establishing rigorous accounting protocols to track daily expenditures, ensuring total transparency for the studio while keeping the on-set operations moving without delay.
THE RESULT
The Moroccan leg of the shoot was completed on schedule and within budget constraints. This project laid the foundation for my expertise in high-stakes production finance, proving that rigorous budget control is the backbone of creative freedom.
