OVERVIEW
Filmed in the historic landscapes of Ouarzazate, this production aimed to bring the Passion of Christ to life with gritty realism. The project required transforming Moroccan sets into First Century Judea, managing large crowds of extras, and handling the sensitive and intense re-enactment of the crucifixion events.
CHALLENGES & APPROACH
Period Accuracy & Crowd Logistics.
Biblical productions are logistically heavy: hundreds of extras in period costumes (sandals, robes, armor), horses, and specific makeup effects (SFX) for the passion scenes. The challenge was managing the “village” of cast and crew in the desert heat while maintaining the solemn and historical tone of the shoot. My role was to oversee the daily operational costs of this massive human mobilization, ensuring that the art department and wardrobe had the resources to create a believable ancient world.
THE RESULT
The project successfully captured the emotional and historical weight of the story. It demonstrated our enduring expertise in “Sword and Sandal” epics, proving that Morocco remains the world’s premier destination for biblical storytelling.
